Elemental Royalty Lets Shareholders Take Dividends in Tether Gold

Elemental Royalty announced an inaugural annual dividend of $0.12 per share on Thursday, May 14, giving shareholders the option to receive payments in Tether Gold rather than cash. The election makes Elemental one of the few publicly traded companies to offer a gold-backed cryptocurrency token as a formal dividend payment alternative.

The move follows the company’s record quarterly revenue result and reflects management’s stated confidence in its cash flow sustainability.

How the Dividend Works

Tether Gold, ticker XAUT, is a token issued by Tether that represents ownership of one troy ounce of physical gold held in a Swiss vault. Shareholders who elect the crypto option receive XAUT tokens equivalent in value to the cash dividend rather than a direct cash transfer.

Elemental’s NewsFilecorp release tied the dividend announcement to the company’s acquisition of Vizsla Royalties, which secures long-life royalty exposure to the Panuco silver-gold project in Mexico. A separate earnings release disclosed record quarterly revenue and adjusted EBITDA, the financial metrics Elemental cited as underpinning the dividend’s sustainability.

Background

Royalty companies in the mining sector generate revenue by financing mine development in exchange for a percentage of future production revenue.

Elemental operates in the precious metals royalty space, where stable cash flows have historically supported dividend programs. Tether, the issuer of USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin by market capitalization, launched Tether Gold as a separate product to give holders exposure to physical gold on-chain.

The dividend option builds on a broader trend of public companies integrating cryptocurrency products into their corporate finance structures, following strategies pioneered by firms such as MicroStrategy (MSTR) with Bitcoin.

What to Watch

Elemental’s dividend structure will be tested by whether shareholders elect the Tether Gold option in meaningful numbers. High adoption would signal genuine retail demand for gold-backed tokens as a savings vehicle.

The quarterly payment schedule means the first XAUT distribution will occur within months of the announcement. Analysts covering the royalty sector will likely monitor whether the crypto option creates additional shareholder interest or whether it remains a novelty feature attracting minimal uptake.
